Lena graduated from Temasek Polytechnic as the top student of her cohort in the Diploma of Law and Management course. She moved on to further her legal education at the Singapore Management University and graduated in 2019. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2020.
Lena’s primary area of practice is in civil and commercial litigation. She has represented clients in a wide range of commercial disputes before the State Courts and High Court with a focus on contractual, trusts, employment, financial disputes and other tortious claims. Lena strives to provide clients with sound advice and pragmatic solutions coupled with a personal touch. Notably, Lena’s experience includes successfully obtaining judgment for the Plaintiff in Lyu Jun v Wei Ho-Hung [2021] SGHC 268 where the High Court found that monies transferred during an extra-marital relationship were not gifts, and assets purchased with the monies were held on trust for the transferor. This was upheld by the Appellate Division of the High Court: Wei Ho-Hung v Lyu Jun [2022] SGHC(A) 30.
Prior to joining Genesis Law Corporation, Lena was a litigation associate in a leading mid-sized firm in Singapore known for its matrimonial law practice where she acted for clients in a wide range of contentious matrimonial proceedings, such as custody issues and variation of court orders in family disputes with cross-border elements. Lena also assisted clients in filing for uncontested divorces and is a firm believer of mediation over the adversarial approach. Where possible, Lena firmly believes in having parties resolve their conflicts amicably and reconciling.
Lena’s current practice also involves non-contentious corporate and contract advisory work, assisting clients with probate and administration applications, preparing wills and handling lasting power of attorney matters.
